A well-carved example with a compressed ball and ring-turned grip above relief carving including an American shield, knotted tassels, crossed American flags and an eagle standing on an American shield. Carved stars, oakleaf, acorn, hourglass…a bird in flight; butterfly, a leafy device and other motifs decorate this cane. Perhaps carved by a Civil War soldier (member of the G.A.R.).
