he cover featuring multiple turnings is also turned with a conforming recessed flange facilitating a snug fit within rim of bowl; finial surmounted with brass upholstery tack is turned from the solid. The ovoid bowl with defined lip sits on a turned foot that is slightly concave. Much of the original shellac remains and has developed a soulful patina; most covered bowls were shellacked unlike food preparation bowls. This well-loved bowl will make a great shelf piece and is very reasonably priced.

Material: Ash burl, original shellac

Item Condition: Make-do repairs using twisted thread to secure shrinkage fissures. There is a missing piece of wood measuring 1 by .25-inch under rim of bowl... the vestiges of time and use.
