Connecticut River Valley Banister Back Great Chair

Early Red Paint over Original Black Paint,

Connecticut River Valley Banister Back Great Chair

A solid straightforward classic great chair…the yoke crest rail is often assigned to Western Massachusetts [Deerfield, upper CRV tradition] as are the use of molded bannisters, tall back with turned finials on the stiles, boldly turned legs and stretchers (including sausage style), scrolled or rolled arms with turned supports. The chair displays an original surface history and appropriate patina.

***This chair may be an interesting variant from the Coutant group made between New Rochelle and Manhattan
