Rushlight holder with forged pivoting jaws, twisted stem, and transitional dousing cone mounted in an incised oak cruciform base. The robust wrought iron construction, heavy gauge ironwork, and early base form are consistent with English examples dating to the mid-18th century. Both the ironwork and oak base retain untouched surfaces with naturally developed patina.
