Chippendale Carved Slant-Lid Desk, Benjamin Frothingham, Boston

The interior features fan-carved prospect door that opens to a valanced drawer above a cubby surmounting a blocked drawer – all flanked by a pair of document drawers faced with Frothingham type turned and split columns featuring urns with flame finials. Flanking the prospect section are four cubies with ogee valances above three drawers [each side]. The case containing four graduated drawers is raised on applied bracket feet centering a drop pendant.
