Matched Cased Pair of Important Henry Deringer Pistols with all Accessories: The guns are nearly perfect with solid silver mountings and two fat gold barrel bands each. Beautiful barrel browning displaying lightning bolt devices is almost pristine. Excellent sharp checkering and super fine engraving.
.41 percussion caliber, barrels with silver front sights dovetailed at muzzle, the breeches stamped DERINGER/PHILADEL’A on top; identical marking on each lockplate; P proof mark on left angle flat of each breech; two wide gold inlaid bands at breech of each barrel; case-hardened locks. The trigger guards featuring pineapple extensions of engraver silver as is the magnificently engraved sideplate. The locks, hammers, upper tangs, sideplates are richly engraved, in a superior quality and style to standard pistols; barrel keyplates also finely engraved as are the German silver buttplates (with engraved steel pivoting lids to cap compartment in each butt). German silver forend caps; border engraving on shield shape thumbpiece escutcheons; early pattern of sideplates, more complex and of greater length than on later styled pistols. Wooden case covered in leather remains in fine original condition…the lid which features spandrels joining double-line borders. The case is lined in burgundy velvet and is fitted with contoured compartments containing screwdriver, nipple wrench, flask, mold, rammer/cleaner, diminutive powder measure and two lidded compartments; mahogany lids with ivory pulls to corner compartments; brass folding handle and mount inlaid on case lid; bottom of case covered with sturdy and fine fabric.
