Brass Nameplate: “Jacob Miller / 1851” (Purportedly Somerset County, PA)
The lid featuring applied projecting canted molding over a conforming finely dovetailed case resting on a molded and canted base. Stenciled ornamentation centers the lock keyhole [tulips, hears, and birds]. Centering the top is an engraved brass plate with cut corners that reads: “Jacob Miller / 1851”.
