A Rare Seventeenth Century American Joint Stool

An infrequently encountered, probably Boston, joint stool featuring overhanging thumbmolded top pegged to apron raised on column-form turned legs joined by box stretcher, the whole resting on turned feet.

Item Date: Circa 1680

Measurement: 20.25” x 17” x 10.25”

Material: Wood: oak throughout

Item Condition: Some repairs and restorations to feet which are original (apparent pest damage with areas of over paint), corner patch to top (early or original top has one nail hole at underside), wear and distress to top (as depicted) with finish distress and areas of minor surface infill. The stool is functional and displays well.
