
This nineteenth century slip decorated redware plate with a coggled edge was likely made in southeastern Pennsylvania. It is adorned with an artistic sponge decoration. This type of pottery was also produced at a few different locations in southern New Jersey, some of which was influenced by potters from Pennsylvania, including some locally produced objects made before 1870 that are owned by the Haddonfield, New Jersey Historical Society.
