Homespun-Upholstered Painted Make-Do Wingchair, Fireside Chair

The comfortable chair features a rectangular back flanked by rectangular wings over two carved arms, and a trapezoidal split-bottom seat, the whole raised on turned legs joining a turned double box stretcher with the rear legs having only a single stretcher. All exposed elements retain what appears to be original black paint. Upholstered with a rustic woven wool homespun-type fabric. Unknown originality. 18th century with possible later additions.

Material: Woven wool homespun-type fabric. Splint seat.

Item Condition: Very good overall; typical minor wear to splint seat; feet were very long ago tipped with blocks of wood to increase the already full height for comfort.
