Finely carved wooden artist’s lay figure with articulated head, torso, arms, hands, legs, and feet. The realistic facial features and painted hair are executed directly on the wood.
The hands are carved with individually defined fingers and extended thumbs. Constructed entirely with wooden dowels, the figure retains its original articulation without visible iron screws or external metal fittings.
The quality of the carving and construction reflects the standards of a professional artist’s studio mannequin produced during the late nineteenth century.
