: Double splint holder with four forged jaws arranged in opposing pairs, mounted in a pine block base. The form is characteristic of examples attributed to Germany and Austria dating to around 1800.

Item Date: Circa 1600 - 1800

Measurement: 7” x 3”

Material: Heavy gauge Iron, pine.

Item Condition: Very good condition with expected wear consistent with age and use. The wrought iron exhibits light surface oxidation, and an untouched, well-developed patina. The pine block base exhibits age-related shrinkage, stable checking, surface wear, and evidence of historic wormholes. No apparent repairs.
