Engraved by Theodore de Bry (1528–1598), a Flemish engraver who fled to Frankfurt and gained fame for his copperplate depictions of the New World. Part of Brevis Narratio (1591), illustrating Jacques Le Moyne’s 1564 Florida expedition accounts, this scene of a battle between Native American tribes reflects de Bry’s influential yet dramatized style
