Mary Jeanette Thurston (born December 1, 1829, Fort Trumbull, New London, Connecticut, died July 6, 1907, in Maryland)

Wrought by Mary Thurston at age 18, she was the daughter of Brigadier General Charles Mynn Thurston and Julianna Hughes. The sampler features a detailed checkered basket of flowers, surrounded by an elaborate border…a wreath of blue and white morning glory-like flowers, roses, leaves, and a blue and white bowknot at the bottom. The basket is flanked by large flowering plants.

Material: Silk on linen, gold wood frame, 100% acid-free materials.
Item Condition: Very Fine original condition; vibrant colors, no toning to background linen. The work is mounted withing an appropriate gilt frame [modern].
