German Stoneware Drinking Krug, Mug

German Stoneware Drinking Krug, Mug

Attractive small brown salt glazed German stoneware handled krug. Baluster body on cordoned round foot. Straight wide neck upwards to simple lip. Applied wide handle, smoothed into shoulder and neck. Flat base with wire cutting marks. Overall sheen mid brown to just above base. A variety of interesting hand and finger imprints (especially above the foot). Some nice dark speckled areas of glaze on base too.

Item Date: Circa 1630-1650

Measurement: Height: 5.25"

Material: Stoneware ceramic with glazes

Item Condition: Good. A couple of small in-manufacture kiln blows (one with a tiny surface hole), a small (trivial) flake on base edge (at the back), a smallish (5mm x 9mm) chip to inside edge of handle, two small (2mm x 7mm) chips on top of lip but nothing really untoward and is otherwise excellent with just a small in-manufacture touch-mark on the very top of the handle. Displays well.
