A scarcely encountered tavern drinking game [passglasen] where the drinker had to consume beer to the exact next applied thread [milled band] in a single gulp. If the drinker failed by missing the calibration thread mark, he had to continue drinking until successful.
Amazingly light, amber glass with scattered minute bubbles; free-blown with applied decoration... cylindrical slightly flared body with spreading folding circular base enclosing an air trap with high "kick-up" having a rough pontil mark. The circumference features five horizontal pinched rigaree-bands [passen] diminishing in width lower down the glass. Considering the thickness of glass, this example remaining is such fine condition is an amazing survivor. Passglasen were likely made in vast quantities, however intact examples are rare as most were broken during use.
