Side Chair, Queen Anne, Compass Seat, Possibly Saybrook, Connecticut, 1740-1770

This chair features a delicate, double peaked crest rail, shaped splat resting in a molded-edge shoe; through tenoned seat rails feature serpentine sides and a straight front. The front legs are very fine and rest on pad feet; raked rear legs have chamfered edges.

Measurement: Height: 41"; seat height: 18.5"; width: 20.5"; depth: 15.5"

Material: Maple, tiger maple, and birch

Condition: Very good, left front knee is replaced as is the slip seat.
