Nineteenth Century Cutlery Tray, Carved Maritime Knife Box

A rare and outstanding example, the carrying handle with pierced square knot is dovetail-joined to the tray. The amazing carved rope ornament is of one piece with side and end panels; molded fielded panels, one initialed "EY" another "1880" are carved from the solid. Very nice color and patina.
