This was part of the Reliance Insurance Company [founded in 1817] corporate collection. This was part of a fledgling water distribution system designed by Benjamin Latrobe. Hydrants were installed along the distribution system.

An old label reads: "Portion of old water main dug up in 1955 near 13th and Chestnut Street".

Date: Circa 1812 (Wooden mains were installed until 1832)

Measurement: 16" x 11" x 10"; Inside Diameter: 4.25"
