Additional Information: A fine example made by a very experienced master cooper
demonstrating a high standard of workmanship. The dasher/plunger is received by a
beautifully turned ovoid funnel [rim tapers inward], the funnel pierces the slightly domed
fitted lid. The staves, one projecting, and flaring like a piggin type handle are bound by
four buttonhole joined hoops and one hoop at the rim having a tapered finger terminus.

Dolly Dawes, Windsor, Berkshire County MA. Sampler
Vibrant New England sampler worked by Dolly Dawes in 1819. Dolly was born in July 1806 in
Windsor, east of the NY border.
The sampler features navy blue highlights, a fully formed basket with folky birds in the background
and green surrounding done in queen stitch.
A deep navy sawtooth border on all four sides frames the piece. It is silk on linen in excellent
condition, in a period figured maple frame. Professionally conserved.
