The large rear posts with robust turned finials joined by four arched splats; trapezoidal seat, raised on turned front legs joined by double box stretcher...this chair, which retains original seat, is at about full height and features excellent surface. Typical ancient imperfections.

As depicted, a Portland school needlework recording the family history of Joseph and Hope [nee Cobb] Fernald of Portland, Maine, wrought by Mary Fernald in 1807. Within the compartmentalized work is the family history above the wrought common with grazing animals, trees, and houses...all within a border of vines and flowers. Imperfections include stains, missing letters (thread loss, stains, and fading. The work is mounted within a modern frame that measures 18-inches x 17 ¼-inches; 16-inches x 15 ½-inches view.

Jaspe "Bonne Annee" Pitcher



Thrown earthenware pitcher with raised decoration on shoulder and near bottom, applied handle, green glaze marbled with dark brown on exterior, cream colored interior, "Bonne Année" written in slip on front of pitcher. Glaze chipping along collar, handle, scattered throughout body of pitcher and lettering, no cracks or pottery chips. (Approximately 5.25-inches high.)
