Pierced cruciform finial above scratch decorated lobed crest above silvered glass; maker used chipped fragment of glass and cleverly filled the small missing area with carved wood. The piece appears earlier than the scratched date of 1838. (6.25 x 3.75 inches.)

The edges of frame ornamented with saw-tooth line motif, applied turned-spiral-twist molding, and eight leaves carved in relief; acorn and ball drops complete a most successful aesthetic. For a nearly identical example see The Mirror Book by Herbert E. Schiffer, page 637, plate 634. (Dimensions: 15.25 x 21.75 inches.)
