Additional Information: Table-bench…a large, functional, and rare example that
presents well open or closed…viewed from front or back. The cleats securing top are
pegged to demilune cutout ends joining medial rail and bench seat. The seat and ends
are of mortise and tenon construction. Tiny traces of white overpaint remain on base.
The commodious top is functional for dining; comfortably seating six. The cleated top pivots on a dowel piercing base stiles which join wide dovetailed fascia and seat boards.
The stiles feature demilune piercings at the base joined to and raised on successfully proportioned raised and arched shoe feet.

The generously proportioned rectangular cleated-top; comfortable for seating, pivots on original carved and pined dowels piercing shaped sides that continue to double-arched cutout base joined by seat featuring arched apron with returns and double-lobed drops. (H: 27”, top: 37 by 59”)
The top being 48-inches across has a generous overhang allowing for comfortable
seating; top is pinned and pivots on tapering posts that are joined by the seat and box
stretcher. Nice old soft-gray paint over original red.
