18th Century Pennsylvania Tall Chest, Original Surface
Walnut and poplar - SOLD

(Height: 63"; width: 42"; depth: 22")
Crown molding over-three-over-two short drawers over four long drawers, all
overhanging thumb-molded; the case raised on a molded applied bracket base. During
its early life, the case was cut in half, likely to accommodate a narrow stairwell. The cut
looks like a scribe. Minor imperfections such as a tad of base foot loss as depicted; glue
blocks remain at full height. The chest is functional and displays well.

Maple, eastern white pine secondary wood, early color, surface and patina - SOLD

Bold applied cornice molding over a case containing six long graduated drawers all with
lip molded edge in fine condition. The case rests on molded base with straight scrolled
bracket feet. All edges of original backboards are sharply chamfered and received by
dado. Completely original remarkable condition with one small repair to left rear foot facing.

A true "tall-chest" constructed of maple...beneath the crown molding are seven overhanging lipped edge graduated drawers. The case is raised on an applied shaped bracket-base with unusual spur like returns. Minor imperfections such as two replaced backboards; one drawer lip repair and appropriately replaced brasses...all else very good including old dry surface. Height: 65"; Width: 39.25"; Depth: 17.5".
