Elaborate scroll design…fitted with two compartments divided by elaborately pierced
and scrolled carrier: the outwardly canted case on a slightly projecting base. Nice early
working period surface; appears to be early reddish-brown varnish over clear shellac.

A rare Georgian example; the lid opens to reveal a velvet upholstered interior fitted to service eighteen utensils. This rare box remains in very good condition with only the most minor imperfections; loss of 1.25-inch section of slightly projecting base molding at base; couple inconspicuous little areas of shrinkage, else fine.
