Antique Trade Sign, Boot and Shoemaker, Original Paint

Antique Trade Sign, Boot and Shoemaker, Original Paint, Image 1

An unusual and graphic sign featuring a dry patina. Incised and painted detail outlines the upper collar and sole of man's boot, conforming detail to buttons, button flap and sole of ladies' shoe. The letters spelling "AND" & "MAKER" display a creatively executed border outline simulating stitching such as a cobbler would do when making footwear. The impressed faux stitches were created with a tracing wheel [stitch marker].
