18th Century Carved Bonnet Top Highboy. Connecticut, Circa 1765-1780, Image 1

Full bonnet, potently molded broken arch pediment above fan-carved short drawer flanked by short drawers above four long drawers... all thumb-molded. Lower case with single long drawer over three short drawers, the center features wonderfully conceived and executed carving. The stiles and triple arcade apron display unusual inlays... the whole raised on cabriole legs resting on turned pad feet. The tall chest is in old finish and in generally good condition; some roof boards are old replacements; bottom drawer of top case has a cracked lip to bottom drawer. Believe it-or-not, this is a marriage made in heaven.

Measurement: Height: 82", 87" to tip of finial; width of bottom case: 36", depth: 22"

SKU: 424-340
