Sampler: A Gift From Mary Blades, Potted Flowers, Geometrics, Brick House, Image 1

An encyclopedic composition displaying an inspired variety of needlework traditions featuring artistic diversity and strength of color. Within the center of uppermost band is wrought: "A Gift From Mary Blade" flanked by baskets of flowers. A large basket of flowers surmounts a two-story twin chimney brick dwelling flanked by diverse blocked vignettes.

Date: Circa 1830

Measurement: Frame: 14.25"; x 14.25"; view: 11.5" x 11.5"

Material: Wool and silk on linen

Condition: Mounted in a period frame which is not original to the textile. There is a trivial pea size threadbare section at upper left in outside margin; linen ground remains intact therefore the trivial loss is not "in-your-face" visible or offensive.
