A Period Henry Deringer Peanut Size Pistol…Scarce Pocket Size, Philadelphia

A Period Henry Deringer Peanut Size Pistol…Scarce Pocket Size, Philadelphia, right facing

A rare percussion peanut size .45-caliber 1.75-inch flat top round barrel in smoky gray and speckled
finish having German silver blade sight and breech bands centering “P” proof within sunburst and two
lines: DENENGER / PHILADEL; the engraved lockplate marked in similar style. Approximately 4.5-inches
overall length, back action featuring scroll engraving lock having smooth mechanics. The muzzle is
machined-faux rifling. Engraved German silver furniture including an inlaid “V” shaped forend inlay;
barrel wedge escutcheon, trigger guard having stylized pineapple finial and long tang, fancy lock screw
escutcheon and butt strap. The shield shape wrist escutcheon is vacant [not engraved]. The finely
checkered stock is sharp and displays good color and rich patina. A good example.
