Art Nouveau Sterling Silver Candlestick,
American, Circa 1900 - 1905
Commemorative Art Nouveau candlestick with stylized lilies on column, spirals on the capital, and undulating forms with leaves on quatrefoil base. [STERLING] and  are marked on the bottom surface. Notable names of those engraved (7-names) are architects James H. McGuire (1866 – 1947) and Edgar Josselyn (1861 – 1943).

Coin Silver Presentation Cup
"W. H. Renaud Sep. 4th, 1869"
With Bust of Stonewall Jackson
This silver presentation cup, with applied handle, features a bas relief profile of General Stonewall Jackson on front and is engraved on rim "W. H. Renaud Sep. 4th, 1869." The cup is marked on bottom "E. A. TYLER / NEW ORLEANS," dimples, overall very good. William H. Renaud was a member of the Company C [Ellison's] Confederate Guards Regiment who also served in Fender's Battery during the Civil War. In 1861 he is listed in the NOLA City Directory as an accountant. He eventually became a successful businessman.
E. A. Tyler was a jeweler and watchmaker on Canal Street who also advertised "silver and plated ware" but apparently was a retailer and not a silversmith.

Box mounted with brass ribbon and latch raised on ball feet; the tooled lid opens to reveal a second lid which is pierced. This box which is hallmarked remains in fine original condition with about full coverage silver. (Height: 4.25 inches; width: 8.5 inches; depth: 6 inches)

Domed lid with pineapple finial, chased decoration on teapot and stand. London 1787-88 hallmarks and "BM" with a pellet between letters. Footed undertray in excellent condition; teapot has four small but obvious dimples on side and old repair to octagonal spout.

Rogers & Bro. / Triple Plate/1401
"Presented to Capt. L. G. Theodore Bruer & Lady by the Members and Ex-Members of F. COMP. 5th REG. N.G.S.N.Y. on the Celebration of their SILVER WEDDING October 17, 1874"
Captain Bruer served in the National Guard, State of New York prior, during, and after the Civil War. (Soldier's records accompany the set)
A heavy two-handled tray featuring leafy sprays, ferns, flowers and birds; all centering the presentation inscription. As depicted, three graduated tea/coffee/hot water pots with hinged lids (10" to 11.5") featuring lion masks centered by floral engraving above legs resting on paw feet. The set includes a matching 9" lidded sugar bowl, a waste bowl with gold washed interior standing at 4.75"; and a 5.25" creamer. The last item is a mismatched 9" footed covered butter dish, marked "Rogers & Bro. /Triple Plate/1884" with very similar engraving.
Capt. Bruer, age 38, enrolled April 23, 1861 at Brooklyn to serve 3 months in the 28th Regt., N.Y.N.G. (One of the first regiments arriving in Washington DC to protect the Capitol.) Capt. Bruer reenrolled June 19, 1863 at NYC to serve 30 days as Capt., Co. F, 5th N.Y.N.G., the unit served in Pennsylvania at Harrisburg, Carlisle and Chambersburg (at the time of the Gettysburg campaign).
The service remains in excellent condition showing normal and minimal use wear; scattered and minor spots of thinning to plate; all else very good.

Flame finial on a shaped and domed hinge cover on a double-bellied body with scroll and leaf handle sockets. The upright reverse curved leaf-capped spout was cast with a ruffled shell; the pot rests on rounded domed base with molded foot.

An important American War of 1812 related Empire silver presentation coffee pot, mark of JVM, Paris, 1809-19, of amphora form, chased with a vine border, engraved on one side "Presented to Commodore G. W. Rodgers by Hon. Albert Gallatin 1816," the spout tip cast as a lion's head, raised on incurved supports headed by stiff leaves and ending in paw feet, the cover surrounded by an anthemion leaf border and with bud knop, treen handle, "JVM" mark within lozenge, French standard and guarantee marks. A Rare Childs' Handled Silver Cup
Boston - SOLD
Extremely rare for a child of great circumstance in early Boston. The rim is beautifully flared with a gradual and fluid sweep. The applied four-reed C-scroll handle is terminated with a ventilated scroll. The piece is marked TM twice, on the bottom and near the top edge of the cup (Kane mark B.) and of good weight.

An important and rare tapered silver tankard displaying the marks of John Coney; featured is a molded rim, and a stepped hinged cover with crenellated lip; and an outstanding "corkscrew" scrolled thumb-piece. The tubular double-scroll handle is engraved with an "E" and features a shield shape tail-piece; handle is made in two sections with an air vent cut into the underside. Engraved with "W*S*L*" on the base, with maker's mark on body and base. Possible connection to the Manning family of Ipswich and Boston. (56 3/8" H, 24 total ounces)
