block and turned standard; the chip carved blocks feature chamfered
corners and lambs tongue molding. The cruciform base is stepped,
and chip/gouge carved.

Condition: Very good, chip (wood loss) to first turning under cleat.
Literature: Furniture of the Pilgrim Century by Wallace Nutting, [1924]
pp. 595 and p. 600; also, same title, 1921, page 467. Also, plate
1355-1358 of Furniture Treasury by Wallace Nutting 91928).
Provenance: Wallace Nutting circa 1928…sold to Burkhard 1946
according to very old note affixed to underside of top.
Additional Information: Octagonal top raised on turned standard
featuring incised concentric rings resting on cruciform base
having quarter round terminuses. The scrubbed top displays
beautiful color and patina, all else retaining original
thinning red stain. Displays well.
