The lid initialed “ID” above a church/meetinghouse; ornamented with robust tulips, trees and other flourishes;
typical red, white and green decoration. Retains original tin hasp and hinges.
(Three inches loss to projecting base lip at proper bottom left front;
thinning paint, else fine and original;
9.75 by 8.75 by 2.75” .)

Condition: Overall…very good, old, and minor wood loss to front-lower-center of lid
molding that doesn’t distract.

Additional Information: The rectangular did featuring very attractive applied molding is
hung on brass hinges; conforming case with molding applied to front. Dry patina. *

Material: Poplar, polychrome

Condition: Very Good

Additional Information: Possibly a reward of merit…a similar box
featuring an eagle and banner on lid; the banner displaying the name
“Hannah Miller” was in the collection of William R. Steimel [Garth’s
Auctions, lot 46, January 8, 2000].
The lid, front, and side decorations are centered within borders;
ornamenting the front is a pot of flowers issuing leafy and scrolled
devices; similar motifs decorate the sides.
