Advertised by Ronald Bourgeault Antiques, December 1986 – “Found in Ipswich,
Massachusetts by a pioneer collector”, thence to the Kilcup Collection, to
Antique Associates, to a private collection (2016). We are thrilled to again represent.

Measurement: Height: 28"; width: 12.25"; depth: 5.75"

Material: Northeaster white pine, paint

Condition: Excellent, early 19th century brown or original red paint; flat dry patina.

Additional Information: Three-tier spoon rack with shaped top above elaborately chip
carved [Friesian / Frisian carved] backboard having three carved pierced spoon rests slotted for
eighteen spoons above fitted projecting box; overall carved ornamentation featuring floral
devices, pinwheel-stars, circles and half-circles, hearts, and crescent shape hearts;
crosshatching, border and other stylized motifs and scratch-carving.

Material: Poplar, red paint

Condition: Very good, appears that blue overpaint was carefully removed exposing
original red paint.

Additional Information: The shaped backboard with carved hex above pivoting slanted
box lid. The front and bottom boards are rived.
