Neatly wrought on green linen by Dolly Hawks who was born in Massachusetts. Our genealogical research produces several possibilities therefore we leave research to the next owner.
The sampler is worked in silk on dark green linen featuring three upper and lower case alphabets and numerals, a two-story twin chimney brick house; baskets of fruits, blackbirds and fruited trees. Stitched within a sawtooth border is Polly Hawks / aged 8 years / 1803.
