Elaborate borders enclose the well filled central areas wrought with a profusion of stylized flowers, animals, trees; birds and houses. Also, Adam and Eve, other people, eagles, angels, horses, cow and other quadruped...within Martha's work is a man that is as tall as the three story dwelling. These works appear to be mounted within original black enamel frames with gilt liners and are stretched directly on backboards; excellent condition. Probably Newport, Rhode Island...silk on linen needlework sampler, inscribed "Mary Casey is my name and with my needle wrought", finely wrought with bands of verse and central band of stylized flowers, all within a floral, line and saw-tooth border done in shades of green, blue, yellow, brownish-red, and tan. Also birds, stylized trees and intricate stitch work. The work remains bright and fine excepting thread losses within alphabet and verse. Conservation mounted with a modern Hogarth type frame having overall dimensions of 16.5 by 23-inches.
