Extremely Rare Ice Fishing Decoy
BEAVER DECOY, length 12.25-inches
Artist Unknown
Circa 1930 - SOLD

This working decoy is guaranteed to be correct; the body with carved mouth, teeth and ears has sheet iron legs and what appear to be brass tack eyes.
The lead weighted cross-hatched tail is tapered and attached to the body with screw eyes allowing for movement. This example remains in original great paint that is beautifully oxidized...fantastic attitude, surface and patina.
For a similar example see Beneath The Ice by Apfelbaum, Gottlieb and Michan, page 79; plate 60. The 1930's example published was thought to be from New York State and has a minnow in its mouth; length is 8.5-inches.
