Cast Iron Mechanical Coin Bank
Circa 1869-1877
Made by the J. & E. Stevens Company of Cromwell, Connecticut

By pulling the knob on cupola, the roof door opens with the figure of a cashier appearing to receive the deposit. When a coin is placed on the desk the weight alone initiates mechanical action; coin slides and drops within the building while the roof-door returns to its place. (4 x 3.875 x 5.25-inches.)

Carved Bone Love Token
With Hair Chain
Nineteenth Century



Made up of three carved bone pendants, a shield with "LOVE" in raised letters, a small woman's hand, and a stylized bird in flight. The three pendants are joined by chain links of horsehair. There is also a gold colored clasp attached by horsehair links. (Approximately 6.25-inches overall.)
