A Painted Tea Caddy



Milk can shaped tole tea caddy, yellow feather decoration around shoulder, star on cover, red, yellow, and green floral bouquets on sides. Very good condition, varnish has darkened resulting in dimming the colors, some chips on shoulder and lid. (Approximately 7-inches high.)

Lidded Knife Box
Painted Tin



This cabin shaped japanned cutlery box has red and gilt decoration and a strap handle. One slanted lid is labeled "FORKS" and the other "KNIVES." Solid condition with no dents or breaks, the japanning has flakes along the sides and noticeable losses on the "FORK" lid, the gilding is well worn but much of it remains intact. Lids are mechanically in great shape.

Winter Landscape
Oil on Artist's Board
Circa 1896



Approximately 22 ½-inches x 16-inches framed, view area approximately 11 ½-inches x 18-inches. Wonderful primitive oil painting of a wintery Vermont landscape w/ people skating, large Gothic Revival building, wooden bridge, mountains in the background and a great winter sky at sunset. A portion of the original tag remains on the reverse of the artist's board ground. Inscribed, possibly in black ink, on the reverse of the frame is "Painted by Ruth Howard Matteson / Shaftsburg 1896." The 1880 U.S. census shows a Mrs Ruth Matteson, b. 1857, living with her husband Johnson Matteson, in Shaftsburg, Bennington County, Vermont.

Two-story dollhouse with painted brick facade and five arched windows. Included are two adult dollhouse figures as well as miniature Frozen Charlottes and house accessories. The dollhouse measures 31-inches in height, 15-inches in width and 10-inches in depth.

Oval Lidded Knife Box, Blue Paint



Approximately 12 ½-inches l x 8-inches w (at center) x 3 ¼-inches h (5 ½-inches to grip.) Oval knife box, divided in half w/ scalloped grip in center, each side lidded, bentwood sides, dark blue paint. Besides expected wear on paint the box is in very good condition, no chips or cracks.

19th Century Chippendale Style Miniature Tea Table
Mahogany



Miniature tea table with Chippendale style pedestal in baluster form. It has cabriole legs with pad feet; very good condition overall, with light scratches to the tabletop; the block is cracked and repaired with hand cut screws. This little table measures 6.5-inches in height, and the top has a diameter of 9.5-inches.

Small Gooseneck Copper Tea Kettle



Miniature gooseneck tea kettle with stepped lid and turned ebonized handle. The brass and copper handle still has the original wing nut. A nice small size with deep patina. The teapot measures 8-inches in height to the handle, 8-inches in width and 5-inches in depth.

Applied Molded Edges



Red and black squares on a pale yellow background, black swags on both ends of the board, area between squares and around swags have been scribed, half round molding painted black, brass ring for hanging. Surface of board shows wear. (Approximately 18 ½-inches x 16-inches.)

Approximately 10-inches h. Beveled oval mirror set in maple w/ tri-color wood beading. Small cracks at the top and near the handle, some loss of silvering on bottom edge of mirror.

Dresser Glass
Bow front with three drawers...
American, mahogany veneer and white pine
Circa 1810



An Oval beveled dressing glass with cross banded facing and inlayed edge that retains original beveled glass and similarly beveled backboards. Supporting the mirror are curvilinear scratch-molded uprights that are let-into the mahogany veneered bow-front case with inlayed edges and contrasting sting inlay embellishing the top. The case containing three short conforming drawers with satinwood edges is raised on turned ball feet. Outstanding color and very good condition with only very minor old bits of restoration. (Height: 19.125 inches; Width: 20.125 inches; Depth: 8.375 inches.)

Engraved Metal Hairpin Box



Approximately 3 ½-inches l. Oval box, stamped nickeled brass sides, nickled ball feet, white metal top and bottom, top engraved w/ flowers, a hairpin, and "YOUR FRIEND." Overall very good, slight wear on nickel along sides.
