Diminutive Sheraton Bow-front Sideboard
Mahogany
North Shore, Massachusetts
Circa 1815
In the manner of William Hook



The top has delicately carved edges and concentric turned cookie corners over reeded three-quarter columns, terminating in vase and ring-turned feet. The sideboard has two wide drawers over two cupboard doors, flanked by two bottle drawers above and two smaller drawers below. The hardware has been replaced, and is noted for accuracy.

Engraved Metal Hairpin Box



Approximately 3 ½-inches l. Oval box, stamped nickeled brass sides, nickled ball feet, white metal top and bottom, top engraved w/ flowers, a hairpin, and "YOUR FRIEND." Overall very good, slight wear on nickel along sides.

Approximately 6-inches. Stainless shears are marked "GERMANY". Cast sterling handles depict fox seated beneath a bunch of grapes and are marked with a crown, "W" and a lion passant over the word "STERLING". Mark used by the Watson Company of Attleboro, MA.

Pearlware Handless Cup and Saucer
Decorated with overglaze enamel...



...strawberries and flowers with a diaper border and a 7.5-inch plate decorated with strawberries, thistle and flowers. There are no chips or cracks on the plate but there is some flaking of the enameling. The saucer has a half-inch chip on the rim and the cup has chips on the foot.

Green transfer travelers walking and on horseback with a farmhouse and windmill. The mug has no marks, and remains in very good condition. Measures 1.75-inches in height.

Footed Splint and Beaded Yarn Hair Pin Cushion



Approximately 5-inches L x 4-inches W x 3-inches H. Oval splint basket w/ tapered sides; bentwood legs; extended zigzag splint decoration around rim secured w/ brass pins; ring handles w/ red and maroon bows; looped red, pink, white, and maroon yarn cushion, each loop has a very small clear glasss bead. Overall good condition, some breaks in weave around legs.

Pearlware Container with Conical Cover



Dark green decoration on the shoulder of the container and the rim of the cover. There are several shrapnel chips on the container and a crack in the cover that, because it is partially glazed over, appears to have occurred during firing. There are several post-firing chips along the edge of the unique cover.
