Staffordshire Child's Dish with Maxim



Octagonal child's dish with a raised floral border, and a central brown transfer of two girls looking at a butterfly on potted flowers with the maxim "Flowers that never fade / Contemplation / Lord, what is life? - 'Tis like a flow'r, / That blossoms, & is gone! We see it / flourish for an hour, With all its beauty on". The dish also has polychrome decoration. The dish has no marks, and remains in good condition. Measures 6-inches in diameter.
