Wonderful Early Large Noah's Ark - SOLD

Very Large Barge style Noah's Ark, Germany, 3rd Quarter 19th Century, with excellent color and curb appeal. Along with this large barge style vessel, there are 20 large pairings of papier mache or composition animals, and 5 unusual human figures, all dating from the same period. This combination of wooden ark with papier mache animals in not the typical configuration, but is every bit as pleasing to the eye. The animals are large, and have pleasing characters, much more than some of their wooden counterparts. Similar examples of animal, but with hide covers, are also found with arks of this style and age.
