Man In Black Coat
American, circa 1825
Anonymous Oil on poplar panel - SOLD
The artists minimal modeling and linear style combine with the gradated halo effect silhouetting the young man producing a handsome portrait with a sight size of 30 by 23.25-inches. Cleats were affixed to the reverse to prevent cupping and shrinkage after the fist fissures appeared. There is no in-painting other than touches to the tight cracks.
