Presumably a blacksmith or toolmaker. Ash grip with single pin; steel strap guard. Overall superb condition with typical spotting and light pitting on blade; curved chip at middle of cutting edge as depicted. Signed Bowie's are exceedingly rare and this example is unconditionally guaranteed genuine.

HUGE "D" GUARD BOWIE KNIFE
"WARRANTED CAST STEEL"
This example having a 17-inch blade is 22-inches overall and has a most unusual flat oval guard behind the strap guard. The strap guard is "let in" the pommel and secured by a single peened pin. The ricasso is marked "WARRANTED CAST STEEL"; blade is made from a file.; plum brown color overall. Ex John Ashworth Collection.
