Full Bodied Running Horse Weathervane
In the form of Smuggler...a great pacer
Possibly by Harris, Boston
Circa 1874-1881
Original condition

A molded copper and zinc running horse dating to the third quarter 19th century. The flattened full-bodied figure has flattened ears cast in zinc and exudes strength, power and speed. A single "in-use" lead-repair to bullet hole on left side; all else fine. This example with untouched naturally oxidized surface is weathered to a verdigris, with traces of old yellow sizing-paint. (31.25 by 16.25-inches.)
