Taufschiene Fraktur signed by Daniel Peterman, Paradise Township, York County Pennsylvania![]() Daniel Peterman (1797 - 1871) a prolific York County, PA Frakturist created this record of the birth and baptism of Lea Loh, daughter of Johannes Loh and Catherina [nee Becker] Loh. Lea was born on 20 August 1824 and baptized by Pastor Helefenstein on 27 March 1825. Sponsors were Johannes Becker and his wife Catharina. Peterman has picked out significant words, names and dates in red ink. The rest of the calligraphy is done in black. Two women, one in a green dress and the other in yellow and each holding flowers, flank the writing. These women are a common motif in the work of Peterman. Stylized flowers and vines in reds, yellow and green decorate the top of the Fraktur. The piece is signed "Made By Daniel Peterman Paradise Township York County Pa." The Fraktur has a view area of approximately 12 3/8 by 15 inches and, including the grain painted frame, has an overall size of approximately 20 by 17.5 inches.
