A Powerful Spread-Wing Eagle Weathervane
Full Bodied...Perched on Orb
Attributed to Harris
Boston, MA
Circa 1870 - SOLD

This outstanding iconic American Symbol with open beak is of molded sheet copper and has great detail such as the open beak with tongue...full legs with primary feathers and talons; very nice overall repousse detailed feathers and broad tail. This vane has a great attitude and its original surface history; vestiges of gilding, paint, verdigris and a terrific dry patina. (Height: 36 inches; Wing Span: 39 inches; Depth (approx): 33 inches.)
