This example, painted red, is painted on the front with inscription Lafayette Hose Company done in gold with black trim within blue ribbon with gold trim and scrolled ends. Within the gold lozenge with ornate scrolls and red trim is a portrait. The back displays "FA" done in highly stylized gold lettering with red trim.
The underside of brim painted red black. This hat has extensive restoration.
