PAUL SEIFERT
Wisconsin Farmstead
Circa 1875-1890
A watercolor painting of a Wisconsin Farmstead, dating to the last quarter of the nineteenth century on buff colored paper. A charming depiction of a farmstead with rolling hills in the background; the farmer is tending to his horse and buggy while another appears to be going hunting, rifle on shoulder and dog at his side. The picture is mounted in a molded walnut frame with gilt liner which may be original. See American Folk Painters of Three Centuries, included information and illustrated examples of Seifert's work. (Frame: 27 x 23.5 inches; view: 21.25 x 18 inches.)
