American Flintlock Fusil
Lock Marked JP Moore Warranted
Circa 1820

This very attractive .79 caliber flintlock fusil with 39.75 inch round barrel was certainly made for an officer. The wood has been tested as American black walnut... checkered wrist with silver thumb piece. There is a small chip in stock ahead of sideplate and a crack in the forend cap, which we mention for accuracy. The trigger guard is brass with an acorn finial with the "S" shaped sideplate and forend also being brass. The buttplate is brass as are the four pipes; front two are trumpet shaped. The iron ramrod may be original however 6-8 inches of the narrow tip is missing.
