Model 1849 Pocket Revolver
Original cases for 5-inch barrel models are very scarce
This 5-shot Colt Pocket revolver has serial number 7780, has a .31 caliber, 5-inch barrel, and a small guard. The gun itself measures 9.75-inches in overall length. The barrel retains 95% charcoal blue and the cylinder has 25% blue. The cylinder scene is complete and sharp with Ormsy, New York still visible, and there is a small numeral 3 after the serial number on the cylinder. The frame has 95% smoky case colors left, the rammer has 80% case colors left, and the hammer has 50% case colors left. The back strap retains 80% of the silver, and the trigger guard retains 20% of the silver. The varnished walnut grips remain in 99% condition, and all the safety pins are present.
The case has the following accessories:
- Two-sided standing eagle flask.
- Correct Baby Dragoon/early 1849 "L" tool.
- Near perfect brass mold.
- Rare Colt cap tin by W. & C. Eley marked "for Colts' Pt Belt & Pocket pistols". The tin is taller than a 100-count tin and has no quantity listed on the label. Therefore it is an earlier tin for a larger quantity of caps and is more valuable.
- Case key.
- Skin packet Colt's cartridge works 6 combustible envelope cartridges for Col. Colts Patent Revolving Pocket Pistol, which is sealed and appears to be full.
The mahogany case is excellent however, it is missing the lid for the triangular compartment at upper right corner used to store balls.
